Overview
Emily Clanton’s designs Sisters and Lily in Berea were selected for Phase 3 of Pompano Beach’s Utility Box Wrap Program—an initiative to reduce blight and enliven city streets through public art.
Installed in a light-industrial corridor along Powerline Road, the works extend cultural investment beyond the city’s downtown and tourist areas, embodying the Public Art Master Plan’s vision for “inventive, unexpected, and surprising” art that engages everyday life.
Impact
Equal Access: Extended public art into light-industrial corridors, ensuring all neighborhoods—not only central districts—experience creativity in their daily environment.
Community Integration: Supported the city’s goal of keeping art visible and accessible “at all times.”
Design Integrity: Reflected the plan’s focus on art that is “surprising and unexpected,” yet durable and low-maintenance.
Civic Identity: Strengthened Pompano Beach’s identity as a city investing in inventive, inclusive, and enduring public art.
